The Princeton Program in Linguistics hosted the inaugural meeting of a new syntax workshop, the Princeton Symposium on Syntactic Theory (PSST), on April 6th and 7th, 2018.
The theme for this meeting of PSST was syntactic interfaces, with the following guiding questions:
- How modular is syntax, as a component of grammar? How modularly can we work, as researchers investigating syntax?
- What is the architecture of the grammar, and how does syntax fit into it? What kind of information can be shared between grammatical components, and at what point(s)?
- What can we learn about syntax by using interface data, both through case studies in particular languages/language-families and through larger cross-linguistic surveys?
Research presentations for the inaugural meeting of PSST were video recorded, for archival purposes. Publicly accessible videos of talks from this meeting of PSST can be viewed by clicking here.
(See the schedule, for when each talk was given, to navigate these videos.)
The symposium was held on the second floor of Aaron Burr Hall, in room 219. Aaron Burr Hall can be found on Google Maps here: https://goo.gl/maps/TZsfANd4kME2, and the map below shows the location of the entrances (one at the arrow head, and one at the red X).
On Friday April 6, the workshop ran from 2:30pm to 6pm, and on Saturday April 7, 9:30am (following breakfast) to 5pm.
Saturday evening, all attendees were invited to join us for drinks and hors d’oeuvres, following the workshop.
