Ameena Faruki ’22, who graduated from Princeton with an A.B. independent concentration in linguistics and a certificate in visual arts, was featured in an episode of “If Everybody Knew,” a podcast from the Humanities Council.
In the episode, “…about Serbian internet slang and storybooks in the hospital (How We Talk, part 2),” Ameena spoke to host and producer Dexter Thomas about their senior thesis research, which explored an emerging online language convention in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian among young people.
Ameena’s senior thesis was advised by Laura Kalin (Linguistics, Humanities Council) and is titled “The <y> and the y-ssified: Online-exclusive expressions of the diminutive in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian.”
