The Princeton Program in Linguistics will host the inaugural meeting of a new syntax workshop, the Princeton Symposium on Syntactic Theory (PSST),on April 6th and 7th, 2018.

The theme for this meeting of PSST is syntactic interfaces, with the following guiding questions:

  1. How modular is syntax, as a component of grammar? How modularly can we work, as researchers investigating syntax?
  2. What is the architecture of the grammar, and how does syntax fit into it? What kind of information can be shared between grammatical components, and at what point(s)?
  3. What can we learn about syntax by using interface data, both through case studies in particular languages/language-families and through larger cross-linguistic surveys?
